This month we are getting two writing book reviews for the price of one! If you’re like me, summarizing your story to that of a paragraph form without giving too much away, but keeping the story enticing enough for the reader to by is the bane of my existence. It’s right up there with outlines and marketing plans.
When having to condense my story, I always feel like my writing is hindered and watered down…uninteresting, so I bought this book to try and help me figure out the formula.
Those of us that write fiction, this book deals almost solely with non-fiction, so you have to kind of dig for the jewels of wisdom that we can use, but there are some nuggets of wisdom to be found.
The book centers on research, keywords, and effective writing for getting your book in the hands of more readers. I know most of you understand search engines and how important keywords are to people finding your book, but I am still fairly new and didn’t quite grasp this concept until Dr. Webb explained it. I will definitely be keeping that chapter handy when writing my description and hiding some keywords in it that will match readers search criteria for finding my book.
You also need to research other writers in your genre. What does their descriptions say? Are they selling more books than you? What about their description grabs your attention and makes you want to buy that book?
Dr. Webb gets you to utilize the tools you already have for making your book a best seller. I’ll be keeping his advice handy, and I recommend those of you new to the marketing world to read this book and take notes.
