I’ve never understood why we as Christians or society designate November as the Thankful Month and challenge people to be thankful for something each day in November. What about the other 11 months of the year? Are they the months for complaining and self-pity? I do not believe so. So I am challenging all of my friends, family, writer allies, and readers to be thankful for 31 days of January! Each day decide what you are going to thank God for. Maybe it’s for the cup of coffee that kept you from going off the deep end. Maybe it’s the 30 seconds of blissful silence while your child eats a snack. Perhaps you’re thankful for something bigger like a new job, car, or house. We must be thankful in the little things as well as the big things. The more we focus on God’s blessings, no matter how big or small, the harder it is for the enemy to steal our joy.
Each month, I will challenge you to explore yourself and your faith. Together, we will grow and discover new ways of strengthening our relationship with God. Are you ready?
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (NIV).
